BERTRAM ALLEN THOUGHT he’d claimed a huge victory in the Grand Prix on the final evening of the London International Horse Show last night.
The Irishman posted an impressive time of 30.45 seconds on Quiet Easy but he was later disqualified when some blood was found on the horse’s flank.
Allen has lost an appeal and the win was awarded to Britain’s Michael Whitaker, who rode Viking.
“I am utterly devastated, just speechless,” Allen told Horse and Hound. ”I have a fantastic relationship with all of my horses, and their welfare is paramount.
