CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENDERS WILL be trembling in fear as it looks like a £7.5million former Manchester United striker could be coming at them next season.
According to reports in a number of this morning’s tabloids, Reading are keen to sign Bebé, the 24-year-old Portuguese player who was shown the door by Manchester United last summer.
Bebé joined United from Vitória de Guimarães in 2010 for a fee reported to be in the region of £7.5million — despite then-manager Alex Ferguson admitting that he’d never seen him play.
The former Portugal U21 international made seven appearances during his four years at Old Trafford — scoring twice — and was sent out for loan spells at Beşiktaş, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira.
Bebé was bought by Benfica in July of last year but made just one league appearance as a substitute before joining La Liga strugglers Cordoba on loan. In 16 appearances so far in Spain he has yet to find the net.
However, that doesn’t seem to have deterred Reading manager Steve Clarke. If reports are to be believed, the Royals will swoop for Bebé this summer.
Best of luck to him
Long Cox. An enviable strike force.
@Gareth Keenan: ‘Long Cox will hurt you in the box’ best flag at the Euros.
@murt de murty: Those flags at Euro 2012 were cringe. Banter monkeys.
@Brian Murphy: people saying cringe is cringe
@Alan Roddy: Brilliant stuff.
Absolutely best of luck to the lad and well done on a successful career but what in the name of God did Trap think he was doing with him in the Euros. Like picking a player in Champ Manager whilst boll!xed drunk and you’re in a sh!t run of form hoping for a miracle.
