Will baseball's oddball Brian Wilson meet Obama tonight?

POTUS will welcome the 2010 World Series champions to the White House this evening. This could be gold.

AS BEYONCE SANG at Barack Obama’s inauguration ball: at last.

Next stop for the World Series champions San Francisco Giants tonight? The White House.

The US president will open the White House to the team this evening in honour of its 2010 defeat of the Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series last fall. It’s the first World Series title for the Giants in more than 50 years.

And we cannot wait for notorious weirdo and closing pitcher Brian Wilson to meet the most powerful man in the world. It’s about time.

  • Wilson is favourite in these parts for his wonderful interviews:

  • His intriguing friendship with a man in a gimp mask The Machine:

  • And, of course, his dress sense. As well as his orange ‘too much awesome on them’ spikes, he turned up for ESPN’s annual awards show in a latex tux last week. I don’t know how that would go down in the West Wing.

The White House says Obama will also recognize the team’s efforts to give back to the San Francisco area community.
