BACK IN 1948, legendary baseball player Babe Ruth donated the manuscript of his autobiography to Yale University.
Greeting him to commemorate the occasion was the university’s baseball team captain, who happened to be a young George HW Bush, the future President of the United States of America.
Ruth was suffering from cancer at the time and would pass away later that year, with Bush subsequently describing the encounter as “tragic,” saying that it was clear the legendary ex-player was “dying”.
