AZ goalscorer regains consciousness after worrying scenes in Dundalk match

The Dutch side have delivered a positive update on Stijn Wuytens.

THERE WAS WIDESPREAD concern for Stijn Wuytens during tonight’s AZ Alkmaar-Dundalk Europa League clash.

AZ star Wuytens bravely got his head to the ball just before goalkeeper Gary Rogers to give his side the lead, but collided with the Dundalk stopper in the process.

The 26-year-old Belgian midfielder was subsequently left unconscious after the collision and departed the field on a stretcher following a long stoppage.

The concern was palpable throughout the ground, with more than one AZ player in tears as a result of the incident.

AZ have since delivered a positive update on the hospital-bound player, however, saying he had regained consciousness, but was heavily concussed as a result of his coming together with Rogers.
