SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD Austin Rehkow kicked his way into the headlines on Thursday night when he landed a game-tying field goal — from 67 yards out.

Central Valley, a high school in Washington state, trailed by three points when the teenager lined up a monster effort four yards longer than the NFL record… and nailed it.

Rehkow’s kick sent the game into overtime where Central Valley beat Shandle Park 62-55.

“You get that extra adrenaline going and then I let it rip,” Rehkow told ESPN.com. “Luckily it stayed through the uprights. Once I saw the arms go up, it was just an overwhelming feeling of joy.”

Although the kick set a new state record, it is not the longest in high school history. That belongs to Dirk Borgognone who scored with a 68-yard effort in 1985.
