ATLETICO MADRID WERE close to pulling off an incredible comeback in tonight’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, before a sucker punch from Isco saw the visitors retain control of the tie.

Down 3-0 from the first leg, most people had written off Diego Simeone’s side’s chances.

However, first-half goals from Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann had given Atletico hope of completing an unlikely recovery.

Yet Isco put a big dent in the home side’s hopes, slotting in a rebound after Toni Kroos’ initial shot was saved by Jan Oblak.

There were no further goals in the second half, ensuring Real progressed to the final with relative ease.
