Grealish has represented Ireland at underage level, though having been born in Birmingham, there has been speculation that he may decide to represent England at senior level.
Martin O’Neill said recently that he had spoken to Grealish but was unable to confirm whether he would play for Ireland at senior level.
Yet irrespective of his international future, there is no doubt that the youngster has serious potential. Grealish has already made two substitute appearances for Villa in the Premier League, while last night was his first senior start for Paul Lambert’s side.

The Villa boss was consequently highly impressed by the youngster’s efforts, telling reporters after the match: ”He’s only 18-years-old. He’s playing without fear and doing things that are really good. I think he had a good game. He’s doing well.”
Meanwhile, the Villa fans were similarly taken aback by the maturity Grealish displayed in an otherwise disappointing display by the club.

DESPITE SUFFERING AN embarrassing 1-0 Capital One Cup loss to Leyton Orient last night, Aston Villa fans had at least one positive to reflect on — the performance of 18-year-old Jack Grealish.

Martin O’Neill said recently that he had spoken to Grealish but was unable to confirm whether he would play for Ireland at senior level.
He has, however, been picked for the latest under-21 Irish squad, with Noel King explaining that “he’s happy to play for us at this time and we’re happy to accommodate him”.
