Aston Villa won, quite possibly, the ugliest football trophy ever seen on Sunday

The Cup of Traditions is a pretty ironic name for the tournament, if the silverware is anything to go by.

NEW ASTON VILLA captain John Terry claimed his first tournament success since leaving Chelsea as his side beat Duisburg and Hertha Berlin to claim the, ironically-titled, Cup of Traditions on Sunday.

But the best was yet to come as the defender and his team-mates lifted a highly peculiar trophy, which features a player bursting his way out of a giant football.

It might look like something out of the film ‘Alien’, but Terry and Villa are up and running ahead of the new Championship season.

He wasn’t wearing his full kit, though.

The silverware surely overtakes the Le Tournoi trophy as the worst football prize we’ve ever seen, 20 years after England emerged victorious from that particular tournament.
