Ashley Cole resigned to leaving Chelsea after eight years

The retired international says his current club won’t be among his employment options next season.

JUST EIGHT DAYS after announcing his omission from England’s World Cup squad and therefore his retirement, Ashley Cole took to Twitter again last night.

This time, he was signalling the end of his Chelsea career, eight years on from his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The 33-year-old will be seeking a new club in the coming weeks after the Blues were apparently not willing to offer him an extension to his contract which ends this summer after 229 appearances for the club, just 15 of which came in the league this season.

He tweeted:

Cole has played just 15 times in the Premier League this season, having fallen behind César Azpilicueta in the eyes of Jose Mourinho.
