1. THE WASHINGTON WIZARDS aren’t very good at basketball. In fact, they’re positively woeful and entered Tuesday’s game with the Miami Heat with just one win from their first 14 games of the season. Not many people, including Comcast SportsNet’s Michael Jenkins, expected them to win. Which is probably why he reacted like this:
2. Speaking of basketball, it was a good week for play calling. Never, in the history of professional sports, has a losing team been described as “pooping their big boy pants”. Until now:
3. This is a longer video than we normally post in here but, for stats nerds, it’s a chance to listen to Nate Silver talk to Bill Simmons for eight minutes and that has to be a good thing.
4. We’ve all done embarrassing things in our past but few of us are highly respected head coaches in the NFL who need to worry about having episodes of ‘Saved by the Bell’ to come back to haunt us.
5. You expect your backs to make 80 meter line breaks for tries but your backrow? Well nobody told CJ Stander on Saturday evening as he raced virtually the length of the field to run in his second try against the Glasgow Warriors. There was even a little time for some showboating.
6. What Arsenal could do with having Joel Campbell back from Real Betis right now. He scored this brilliant solo effort against Deportivo last weekend.
7. Nothing beats the joy of being there, but this video taken after Kris Commons’ penalty last night gives you a good idea of what it meant to be a Celtic fan with your team on the cusp of Champions League knockout stage qualification.
8. I wouldn’t want to get on Nebraska’s Kenny Bell’s bad side. Against Wisconsin on Saturday he delivered a perfectly executed but brutal block. I still haven’t figured out why he was penalised for it.
9. Adam Richman might be best known for shows like ‘Man vs Food’ but did you know he’s also a Spurs fan? Well, you do now and he gets quite emotional about the team. Well, I’d cry too if I was a Spurs fan.
10. ‘Tis the season and all that. We’re not exactly sure why the WWE have recorded a wrestling themed Christmas song but they have and we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t share it with you. Merry Christmas.
