THEY MAY NOT make you faster or stronger. They don’t even allow you go higher or longer. That said, there’s something about moustaches that separates athletes who wear them from their contemporaries.
From it’s heyday in the middle of the 19th century, through to a re-emergence in the seventies, the moustache has always been popular with sportsmen as a more aerodynamic version of manscaping than the cumbersome beard.
With Movember just ahead of us, we garnered opinion on the greatest moustaches in sport to create a slideshow of thirty of our favourites for the thirty days of the month, resisting the temptation to include the entire Liverpool squad of the seventies and eighties.
