GALWAY WERE TONIGHT crowned Connacht minor football champions as they beat Roscommon on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-9 at Dr Hyde Park.
It’s the fourth year in-a-row the Tribesmen take the title, with Corofin star Matthew Cooley pointing the way with 0-5 from play while Eoghan Tinney and Conor Raftery rattled the net with goals in each half.
Donal Ó Fatharta’s charges now face Clare in the All-Ireland quarter-final while it’s Kerry up next for Roscommon.

In Ulster, Seamus McEnaney’s Monaghan were crowned champions after a 1-9 to 0-9 decider win over Derry.
Donnach Swinburne’s expertly-slotted 52nd-minute penalty proved decisive in the low-scoring encounter at the Athletic Grounds.

Sam Morrissey hit Kildare’s first-half goal before Muiris Curtin was their star turn shortly after the break with 1-2 in quick succession.
