NFL player blames a ghost for his PED suspension

The New York Jets wide receiver has just finished serving a four-game ban.

WHEN NEW YORK JETS wide receiver Jeremy Kerley was suspended for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, he said he was “shocked” to learn he tested positive for Turinabol — an anabolic steroid — and that he had never “knowingly” taken any banned substances.

“I am 5-foot-9 tall and 180 pounds, and I have never used steroids in my life,” he said at the time.

“I fully intend to investigate this matter until I am able to figure out what caused the positive test, because I know that I have done nothing wrong.

“When I find out what substance was tainted, I will pursue all remedies at that time because this is not right. I have and will always be a clean player.”

Now though, it seems that 29-year-old has discovered the culprit, telling reporters at his first training session since his ban ended:

There’s a lot of ghosts around here. Ghost put it in there. You know, the ghost of Christmas past? … I don’t know.”

Before his suspension, Kerley had 22 catches for 217 yards and while he has been cleared to return to training, he is still not part of the Jets’ active roster and may sit out the rest of the season.
