According to the IRFU, the candidate must have “elite coaching experience” and a proven ability to “set and maintain the highest of standards.”
The role has been vacant since Tom Tierney stepped down following Ireland’s 7th/8th place play-off loss to Wales at the World Cup. Tierney had a full-time, three year deal with the IRFU.
It was a third consecutive defeat for Ireland in what proved to be a disappointing home World Cup campaign with Tierney the subject of heavy criticism from several former international players, most notably Ruth O’Reilly.
Tierney remains involved with the IRFU.

IRFU seek new women's head coach but only on a part-time basis for six months
SEVEN WEEKS AFTER the end of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the IRFU have advertised for the position of XVs head coach.
The new position is being offered with a six month contract, on a part-time basis.
