ST VINCENT’S INFLICTED a heavy defeat on St Sylvester’s in the Dublin championship last night to keep their title defence alive.
And in typical style, Diarmuid Connolly played an influential part in the game.
He may have only registered one point during the game, but he left his imprint on the game with some fine distribution of the ball.
The inter-county player served a 12-week ban this year, after he was charged with ‘minor physical interference’ for an exchange he had with linesman Ciaran Branagan during a Leinster SFC quarter-final game against Carlow.

He then made appearances in Dublin’s victorious All-Ireland semi-final and final displays. And despite the lengthy lay-off, Connolly’s exceptions skills remain intact.
With the scoreline reading 0-04 0-03 to Vincent’s in the first half last night, Connolly drilled a perfectly weighted pass into Tomás Quinn in the full-forward line.
The former Dublin player caught the ball before the bounce, and then rounded his player to get a score.
Late in the second half, Connolly delivered another majestic piece of skill to launch a long-range pass that Shane Carthy was able to gather with ease.
