THE DEATH HAS taken place of former Ireland rugby international Neville Furlong. He was 49.
His death was announced by Garryowen this morning following an illness.
Furlong was twice-capped by Ireland, with both coming on the 1992 tour of New Zealand.
Though Ireland lost both Tests, he scored a try in the second, earning the distinction of being the last Irish player to score a try worth four points as rugby changed its scoring system later that year.
Furlong also played minor and U21 football with Wexford.
