We all have our comfort blankets but it looks like the defending Super Bowl champions will be without one of their best players for the season after Edelman tore his ACL in Friday night’s pre-season win over the Detroit Lions.
The 32-year old has been Brady’s most reliable target for years and averaged more than nine targets per game over the past four seasons — during which time the Patriots won two Super Bowls — and is coming off a career best season when he had 1,106 yards.

He was also responsible for a league-best 28 third down grabs last year and, of course, made a miracle catch at Super Bowl LI in Houston to help the Patriots unlikely comeback:
Edelman signed a two-year, $11 million contract earlier this year and but underwent an MRI today to confirm the extend of the damage and New England’s worst fears were confirmed.
