All-Ireland semi-finals and finals to be streamed live and worldwide on Facebook

TG4 and the LGFA will stream a total of seven championship fixtures on Facebook Live for the first time.

TG4 AND THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) have announced that the All-Ireland ladies football semi-finals and finals will be streamed worldwide on Facebook Live for the first time.

Next Saturday afternoon, 26 August, Leinster and Munster champions Dublin and Kerry go head-to-head in the first of the two senior semi-finals, while Meath and Tipperary face off in the intermediate edition beforehand.

A total of seven championship matches will be streamed live on the TG4 Facebook page, the first time ever on this platform — they have used Youtube for provincial deciders this year.

The matches will also be shown live on the TG4 Player and online, as well as the normal linear platforms that TG4 is available on.

Following Saturday, the second day of semi-finals will be streamed live the week after, as will the three All-Ireland finals from Croke Park on Sunday 24 September.

“TG4 is proud sponsors and broadcasters of Ladies Football since 2001 and we look forward to streaming these matches on Facebook Live,” TG4’s Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said.

“Facebook now has 2 billion active monthly users and streaming Ladies Football matches can help improve engagement beyond the traditional linear experience and could potentially bring larger audiences to this great sport.

The live streaming on Facebook has the potential to attract a larger audience while generating more online visibility for the LGFA and TG4.”

LGFA President Marie Hickey echoed his words: “As sports audiences and supporters’ habits continue to evolve we believe that by streaming these matches on Facebook will attract a new audience to our game.

“I would like to thank TG4 for their support and commend them for being ahead of the curve as always.”
