Gutierrez fight cancelled but Cyclone make no reference to reported Frampton split

Reports emerged earlier that the Belfast boxer was set to split with his promoters.

CYCLONE PROMOTIONS HAVE officially announced that Carl Frampton’s fight with Andres Gutierrez is cancelled but have made no comment about a reported split with the Belfast boxer.

In a statement issued on Twitter today, Cyclone say they have been working to agree a new date for the postponed bout — which was due to take place on 29 July — but that a November date proved unsuitable to all parties.

Anyone who bought tickets for the original fight — for which Frampton was one pound overweight and was called off after Gutierrez injured himself slipping in the shower  — will get a full refund.

Despite reports Frampton is set to part ways with his manager Barry McGuigan — CEO of Cyclone — the statement goes on to say that the promoters are working to arrange a date for a new fight and are confident that Frampton can become world champion again.
