The South African finished second to Justin Thomas at Quail Hollow, to complete the unwanted quartet of results.

In 2012, he lost a playoff to Bubba Watson at the Masters and was forced to settle for second when Zach Johnson beat him on the extra holes at the 2015 Open Championship.
He lost the US Open to another Johnson, Dustin, later that same year before completing the Grand Slam last night.
