SECOND PLACED COBH Ramblers continue to chase Waterford as three goals in six minutes saw them past Athlone Town this evening.
Cian Coleman headed home to open the Cork side’s account just after the half hour mark on 33 minutes, before Jason Abbott’s penalty and Matthew Whelan’s strike meant as many goals in as many minutes shortly after.
The visitors rallied, but the scoreline still read 3-0 at half-time.
Ian Mylod saw his second yellow card and received his marching orders, which gave Athlone a boost but Dragos Sfrijan’s consolation goal ten minutes later was all they could muster.

Subsequently, Ramblers now move to within three points of the league leaders.
Meanwhile, in tonight’s other SSE Airtricity League First Division fixture, Longford Town edged past Cabinteely to win their third home game in-a-row.
Daniel O’Reilly’s 85th minute effort ultimately settled proceedings, and means that Longford are now unbeaten in five games.
