Liverpool's Wijnaldum makes young Irish fan's day with a pair of boots worth £300

A young Liverpool supporter was marveling at the boots when the Liverpool midfielder suggested he buy them.

LIVERPOOL’S GEORGINIO WIJNALDUM made a young Irish fan’s day, by purchasing him a pair of boots worth £300 after a chance meeting.

Louise Mackessy and her 11-year-old son Paddy travelled to Liverpool over the weekend, to see Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Middlesbrough in their final game of the Premier League season.

After watching the home side secure Champions League qualification with a 3-0 victory, the pair went shopping.

They went into an Adidas shop, where Paddy was marveling at a pair of boots worth  £300, when Wijnaldum unexpectedly approached him and encouraged him to buy them.

The Mackessys were walking down the street after leaving the shop, when Paddy told his mother that he took a selfie with the Liverpool player after the surprise meeting.

An employee from the shop caught up with them shortly after, and told them that Wijnaldum wanted to buy the boots for the young fan.

Speaking on RTE’s Ray D’Arcy show today, Louise picks up the story from here:

He (Wijnaldum) had bought them at that stage and he was sitting down. He’s such a nice guy and just very friendly. I went over and shook his hand and said, “that’s so nice of you.” I asked at that stage if I could get a proper picture of both of them together because the selfie Paddy had taken was a bit blurry.

“He said, “no problem at all,” and was just so nice.”
