IRISH OLYMPIAN SCOTT Evans bowed out of the European Badminton Champions this evening, as he was beaten by rising Danish star Anders Antosen.
On his home turf, Antosen won the encounter in two games. The first finished 21-11, while the second was 21-13. Evans put on a spirited display, but his opponent proved too much for the Dubliner.
The morning matches saw Ireland lose both of their encounters. Rachael Darragh put up a fighting effort, but fell at the hand of Germany’s Luise Heim.

Sam and Joshua Magee were beaten 21-14, 21-19 by Croatian duo Zvonimir Durkinjak and Hoelbling in the men’s double.
Darragh then teamed up with Sara Boyle for an evening doubles match, but they lost out to Finland’s Jenny Nystrom and Sonja Pekkola.
Donegal siblings Sam and Chloe Magee are Ireland’s only remaining hope in the tournament.

After an impressive opening win yesterday, they now face French pair Bastian Kersaudy and Lea Palermo tomorrow evening, which may open a medal match opportunity. A victory would mean that they reach the quarter-finals for the second successive year.
