TV dates have been confirmed for this year's 'Toughest Trade' in a new trailer

Wales rugby legend Shane Williams is one of the professional athletes taking part in the documentary.

THE 2017 EDITION of AIB’s ‘The Toughest Trade’ is due to hit our screens next month, and we’ve been given an interesting teaser of what to expect when Lee Chin takes on ice hockey and Michael Murphy dabbles with rugby.

The two-part documentary involves two GAA players swapping sports with professional athletes, who come over to Ireland to give our indigenous games a go.

This year, RTÉ 2 will televise the episodes on 1 March at 9.30pm and 10 March at 10.35pm.

It emerged earlier in the year that the All-Ireland winning Donegal captain would be linking up with the Top 14 side Clermont Auvergne, while Wexford hurler Lee Chin was dispatched to Canada to play ice hockey with the Vancouver Canucks.

While Murphy was in France, Wales rugby legend Shane Williams took up Gaelic Football with Donegal club Glenswilly, and retired ice hockey player Alex Auld trained with Lee Chin’s Faythe Harriers hurling club.

Williams seemed to impress during his stay in Ireland. He played in a challenge match for the reigning Donegal champions in January, hitting four points on a wintry evening against nearby club St Mary’s Convoy.

The official trailer for the series has been released and it looks like the two episodes are shaping up to be action-packed shows.
