Dallas Cowboys star Randy Gregory loses suspension appeal and will miss NFL playoffs

Gregory will miss the Cowboys’ playoff run due to multiple violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

DALLAS COWBOYS DEFENSIVE end Randy Gregory has lost the appeal of his year-long suspension for multiple violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy and will be ineligible to play in the postseason, the league announced.

The second-year pass rusher was reinstated by the Cowboys last month after serving two other drug suspensions this season, the latter of which ended after Week 15.

Gregory’s status for the playoffs had been in limbo while the NFL considered the appeal of his latest violation, which stemmed from missing a required drug test and was first reported in mid-November. Gregory had an appeal hearing in New York on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

It’s likely he’ll be forced to sit out all of 2017, at least, under the ban but he will be unable to apply to commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement until November 6.

Gregory, a second-round pick by the Cowboys in 2015, registered a sack and nine tackles in his two games this season.
