Young Cam Newton fan with serious heart condition gets a surprise visit from his hero

Austin Deckard,10, lights up when his favourite player walks in.

CAM NEWTON MADE a young boy’s Christmas wish come true this week, when he made a surprise visit to him in hospital.

Austin Deckard, 10, suffers from advanced pulmonary hypertension and is currently in hospital waiting to undergo a procedure.

He’s also a big Auburn fan and last week his teacher made a plea on Facebook to invite the young boy’s favourite player, Cam Newton, to come and visit him.

In her post, she also highlighted that his “prognosis is not good” and that “doctors fear he may not make it through [the procedure]“.

The post reads: ”Just before Thanksgiving, I was headed to an Auburn football game. Austin was in awe of this. He also told me he ‘wished Cam Newton could come to his birthday party’. Austin may not ever make it to an Auburn football game but I know social media is a strong force that can make things happen. Let’s use it for something positive and spread this like wildfire and somehow, someway get the word to Cam Newton and give this precious little boy his wish.”

The Panthers quarterback answered the call and visited the young boy in Atlanta’s Egleston Hospital where they shared a big hug.
