Channel 4 Racing sign off last-ever episode with stunning montage

Channel 4 racing has been broadcasting live racing for over 30 years.

AFTER 32 YEARS of broadcasting, Channel 4 Racing aired its last ever episode today, with ITV taking over in 2017 on a four-year deal.

Channel 4 has been racing’s sole terrestrial partner since 2013, which eliminated BBC’s coverage of the sport. Ratings suffered in the years that followed and it is hoped that ITV will improve audience numbers for high-profile race meetings, including the Derby, Royal Ascot and the Cheltenham Festival.

Tom George’s Double Shuffle ridden by Adrian Heskin, was the last ever winner to be shown live on Channel 4 today, in the 3.30pm Handicap Chase at Kempton.

Over the years, Channel 4 has captured many iconic moments on camera and has featured some of the most memorable names in horse racing, including Kauto Star, Moscow Flyer and Sprinter Sacre.

As a tribute to three decades of broadcasting, Channel 4 compiled those moments in a montage and played it out today.
