As it happened: Liverpool v West Ham, Premier League

Can Liverpool get their Premier League campaign back on track after defeat last weekend?

Hello and welcome to this afternoon’s Premier League liveblog.

Today’s 4.30pm kick-off is between Liverpool and West Ham.

Can Jurgen Klopp’s side return to winning ways after their remarkable loss to Bournemouth last weekend?

The big news for Liverpool is that Sadio Mane has proved his fitness.

Emre Can, however, misses out with a knee injury.

West Ham won at Anfield last season but have looked a bit out of sorts in this campaign to date. Last year’s win was the Hammers’ first at the ground in 52 years. Can they get they job done again today?

Anfield is looking quite the picture. Kick-off is just minutes away and this game is live on Sky Sports 1.

Right, get the predictions in

And we’re under way at Anfield.

It’s been a solid start from Liverpool, they’re keeping the ball well and setting the tempo.

Liverpool 1 West Ham 0 (Lallana ’4)

Great finish by Lallana on the half-volley. West Ham’s defence certainly didn’t cover itself in glory mind.

This could be a long afternoon for West Ham, although a lot of us feared the same for Bournemouth last week.

Good stop by Karius. Antonio forces the Liverpool stopper into action and he parries well. It was West Ham’s first meaningful venture into Reds territory.

Liverpool are cutting West Ham open at will. Some excellent stuff from Klopp’s side.

James Milner is finding plenty of room down the left flank for Liverpool. West Ham struggling to track his runs.

West Ham are starting to get into this a bit more, they’re keeping the ball a bit better and asking Liverpool questions defensively. Obiang has just earned a free-kick in an attacking position after a foul by Lallana.

Payet will like the look of this…

Liverpool 1 West Ham 1 (Payet ’27)

He sure did like the look of it. A good strike but Karius won’t want to see that back in a hurry.

The German goalkeeper has had a difficult time adjusting to the English game and this will just heighten the scrutiny he is under surely.

Game on.

Karius is looking pretty ropey, his touch letting him down now as he intercepts a West Ham long ball.

Liverpool have responded well since conceding. They’re still having plenty of joy down the left wing too.

Firmino wins a corner but Matip glances the cross wide of the far post.

Mane has been a real bright spark for Liverpool today, his energy is causing West Ham all sorts of worries. The home side are pressing for their second and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see it come some time soon.

Liverpool 1 West Ham 2 (Antonio ’39)

Matip, who has been impressive this year, was badly caught out there as a speculative long ball fell nicely for Antonio and he guides it into the back of the net.

West Ham are somehow ahead in this despite Liverpool’s dominance. Football eh?

Fimino sends a header just wide.

It’s been an entertaining half of football to be fair.

Penalty shout for Liverpool as Payet pulls down Lallana. Not given.

OFF THE BAR — Matip nearly immediately makes amends from the resultant corner but his header hits the woodwork.

HT: Liverpool 1 West Ham 2

That was certainly an interesting half of football. There seem to be plenty more goals in this for Liverpool if they can maintain their dominance in the second stanza. They’ll have to obviously stop leaking goals at the other end first though obviously.

The teams are coming back out on to the pitch for the second period.

And they’re off again, can Liverpool pull this one back?

Klavan has replaced Lovren too by the way.

Liverpool 2 West Ham 2 (Origi ’48)

An absolute howler from Darren Randolph….Mane’s lame cross is spilled by the Ireland keeper and lands at the feet of Origi, who steers the ball home off the post. Not been a great day for goalkeepers.

CLOSE — Wijnaldum fires just wide off his left from the edge of the area.

Liverpool are enjoying a very dominant spell at the moment. They’re floating plenty of crosses into the West Ham area but not creating too many clearcut chances. West Ham seem happy to sit back and try hit them on the counter.

Yellow for Firmino.

It’s all Liverpool at the moment.

Wijnaldum fires wide from inside the box. Klopp’s side are getting close.

Former Red Andy Carroll is about to be introduced too. That should stir things up a bit.

West Ham are somehow still level. Liverpool are all over them at the moment but just can’t fashion another goal. Just over 20 minutes to play.

GREAT STOP — Randolph redeems himself with a stunning save from a Henderson effort. That was going into the top corner. More like it from the Ireland international.

West Ham are defending a bit better now but will struggle to keep this relentless Liverpool attack at bay if things stay like this.

This must be frustrating to watch for Liverpool fans — seeing your team be so dominant but not being able to get back in a winning position. Just over 10 minutes to play.

Great football by Liverpool, lovely to watch. Mane, Lallana and Clyne link up but the latter fire over Randolph’s bar.

Another corner for Liverpool after Milner’s shot is deflected wide. West Ham are looking solid in the air despite the hosts peppering their area with crosses.

FT: Liverpool 2 West Ham 2

Wow, what a frustrating day for Jurgen Klopp’s charges. So dominant but couldn’t get the three points.
