After being crowned WNL champions during the week, Shelbourne lifted the trophy today
SHELBOURNE LADIES WERE crowned Womens National League (WNL) champions with one game to spare on Wednesday night.
After going the entire season unbeaten, they lifted the trophy today as they defeated Peamount United at Greenogue.
The game finished 2-1, with Shel’s goals coming from Gloria Douglas and Alex Kavanagh.
It’s the first time Shelbourne, who merged with former champions Raheny United in 2015, have lifted the WNL trophy. Their triumph ends Wexford Youth’s two-year reign.
Mark Leavy’s side also defeated Youths 5-0 in the Women’s FAI Cup final at the Aviva Stadium last month.
And if the double wasn’t enough, they also won the WNL Cup final in May making for an unforgettable 2016.
