AUSTRALIAN FORWARD DEAN Mumm has been cleared to face England on Saturday after avoiding a ban for his tackle on Tadhg Furlong during Ireland’s 27-24 victory against the Wallabies last weekend.
The back row, who can also play at lock, was sent to the sin-bin for the first-half incident by referee Jerome Garces but the lifting tackle was put forward for potential further punishment by independent citing commissioner Peter Larter.

However, at a disciplinary hearing in London today, Mumm argued that the yellow card was sufficient for the offence and the disciplinary committee agreed with the Waratahs forward.
The decision means Mumm is free to play in Australia’s final Test match of their international series on Saturday, against England at Twickenham (14.30).
“The Disciplinary Committee then concluded that, although Mr Mumm had committed an act of foul play (as he had accepted), the particular circumstances of the incident meant that Mr Mumm’s actions would not have warranted a red card,” today’s statement read.
“Accordingly, no sanction was imposed and Mr Mumm is therefore free to resume playing immediately.”
