Munster champions Tipperary have to settle for seven while Cork (Séamus Harnedy), Clare (Tony Kelly)and Dublin (Mark Schutte) have one each.
Champions Kilkenny also received two of the three nominations for Hurler of the Year with TJ Reid and Richie Hogan — Tipperary’s Séamus Callanan completing the shortlist.
However, it is Galway that dominate the Young Hurler of the Year category with Jason Flynn and Cathal Mannion joined by Tadhg de Búrca of Waterford.
