Positive news from Everton ahead of Martin O'Neill's squad announcement

Roberto Martinez says Seamus Coleman could play this Saturday.

EVERTON MANAGER ROBERTO Martinez has indicated that Seamus Coleman could still play a part in his side’s trip to Swansea City on Saturday.

The news will be music to the ears of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill who names his provisional squad for the crunch Euro 2016 qualifiers against Poland and Germany later today.

The defender was one of two players — alongside Muhamed Besic — to pick up a hamstring injury in last week’s 3-1 victory against Chelsea but, speaking at to reporters this morning, Martinez said he was confident both were in contention for this weekend:

“We’ve had positive news on both because [the problem] is the least we expected in terms of soft tissue injuries and they’re both reacting well to treatment.

“It’s difficult to tell when we will be able to get them back but I would give both a chance to be involved at the weekend or Tuesday in the League Cup [at Reading].”
