ON 8 APRIL 1996, Coventry City player Dave Busst’s life changed forever.
The defender was in his fourth season with Premier League side Coventry when, two minutes into their clash with Manchester United, he went up for a corner.

Colliding with both Denis Irwin and Brian McClair, Busst suffered a compound fracture to both the tibia and fibula of his right leg.
While in hospital, Busst contracted an MRSA infection and almost lost the leg. 26 operations later, he was told he’d never play football again and retired in November 1996.
This weekend, he appeared on Andy Goldstein’s show and allowed the presenter to share a picture of his leg on Twitter.
