Aer Lingus delivered this PGA Tour player to The Open... but not his clubs

Oops.

33-YEAR OLD Canadian golfer Graham DeLaet is playing in just his third Open Championship this week… at least he will be if his clubs arrive.

The world number 80 arrived in Scotland to prepare for the challenge of St. Andrews on Monday, but has found out his clubs may not arrive until Wednesday, giving him just one day to practise ahead of the Open.

It all started so well for the five-year PGA Tour pro:

But the smiles didn’t last:

The airline did respond quickly to say they were looking into the matter:

And DeLaet made do with some hastily made replacements for his first practise round:

However, it appears an end is in sight.

“The (Titleist) guys made me up a quick set here, and everything pretty much matches up (though) they didn’t have the right driver head,” DeLaet told The National Post earlier today.

“But I did find out that the clubs are supposed to be arriving either late tonight or early tomorrow morning, so I’ll be good to go at least by Wednesday.”

Aer Lingus have yet to reply to a request for comment from The42.
