Freddy 'The next Pele' Adu is ripping up the Finnish fourth division

This may be the saddest goal we’ve ever seen.

WHEN HE’S NOT turning his hand to nightclub promotion, it seems 26-year old Freddy Adu — yes, that Freddy Adu — is on the 11th club of his career… and even there he’s languishing in the reserves.

For those keeping track, they are:
D.C. United (USA), Real Salt Lake (USA), Benfica (Portugal), AS Monaco (France), Belenenses (Portugal), Aris (Greece), Çaykur Rizespor (Turkey), Philadelphia Union (USA), Bahia (Brazil), Jagodina (Serbia) and Kuopion Palloseura (Finland).

While the KuPS first team ply their trade in the Veikkausliiga, the Finnish first division, Adu was lining out for the reserves who play three tiers below.

As you’d expect, the Finish fourth division — or the Kolmonen to give it its proper title — is not great. You can tell how poor it is by how underwhelming Adu’s celebration is.

What might have been for the man once dubbed ‘the next Pele’.
