EVER SINCE FORMER Ireland international Trevor Brennan sent a tweet back in 2012, Irish rugby fans have relished the prospect of his son Daniel potentially playing for Ireland one day.
After all, if you are able to squat your rugby player dad at age 14, then it’s likely you might have some potential for destruction on the rugby pitch.
But today’s news will make Irish fans despair ahead of a huge weekend of rugby as the younger Brennan has been included in a French U17 squad for a tournament with USA, Italy and England.
Interestingly, Brennan’s Toulouse team-mate Romain Ntamack is also included, who is the son of French legend Emile Ntamack.
But before fans lament the loss of one half of Ireland’s eventual second row partnership of ‘Big ‘N’ Tall’ (Iain Henderson and Brennan), it is worth remembering that representing France at U17 doesn’t make him ineligible for Ireland.
And whether he ends up playing in green or blue, it will be fascinating to see how he develops over the next few years.
