TV3 WILL CONTINUE to show Tuesday night Champions League football until at least the 2017/18 season after securing exclusive rights for the Republic of Ireland.
The deal means an Irish audience will continue to enjoy the dulcet tones of Trevor Welch and the excitement of knowing he could hand out biscuits at any moment:
TV3 will continue to have first pick rights to live Tuesday night matches as well as highlights and 3player digital rights continuing until May 2018.
From next season the station will also televise European soccer’s season opener, the UEFA Super Cup Final.
Former Republic of Ireland international and TV3 analyst Kevin Kilbane said:
