It was also a special day for the Kelly family as brothers Paddy, Brian and John all played for Ballincollig. John Kelly scored a crucial goal and he had just returned from his honeymoon for the game.
Their father, John, won a Cork intermediate title with Ballincollig in 1994, and twenty years on his sons helped win the club’s first senior title.
