Confusion surrounds Grealish's international future despite reports

A tweet from the Villa midfielder casts doubts over earlier reports he was set to declare for Ireland.

DESPITE REPORTS THIS morning that Jack Grealish was set to declare for Ireland, the Aston Villa midfielder has added to the confusion with the following tweet.

A number of newspapers reported that the 19-year-old would be capped by Martin O’Neill in the upcoming friendly with the USA on 18 November but not included in the squad for the crunch Euro 2016 qualifier with Scotland four days earlier.

Grealish has represented Ireland at underage level up to and including U21 but is also eligible to declare for his native England.

Playing in a friendly would not cement his international future and Grealish could still make the switch even if he plays in the USA game.

The saga, it seems, looks set to continue.
