RORY MCILROY REDISCOVERED his recent good form during round two of The Barclays as a six-under-par 65 at Ridgewood Country Club put him back in contention on -3.
The world number one now lies just five shots off the lead held by Adam Scott and Cameron Tringale.

An opening round of 74 had put the Co. Down golfer in real danger of missing the cut. However, he showed just why he has won three tournaments in a row on Friday.
McIlroy looked in the mood to charge right from the start of his round when he birdied the first but had to wait until the seventh to pick up a further shot. A birdie on the ninth saw him turn in 32.
He carded another three birdies on the back nine – at 12, 13 and 17 – and just missed out on another at the final hole.
McIlroy still faces an uphill task to win a fourth tournament on the bounce as world number two Scott also shot 65 to move into a share of the lead on -8, alongisde Tringale.
Graeme McDowell is one shot better off than McIlroy after a 68 left him on -4 for the opening tournament of the PGA Tour’s season-ending FedEx Cup play-offs.
“After not really touching a club before this week I felt a little bit rusty out there yesterday,” McIlroy told Sky Sports after his round.
“It didn’t take long, maybe an hour on the range, to get back on track and I’m glad I did it because I played really well today.”
