3 Polish players who could make an impact against Ireland tonight

We take a look at some of Poland’s lesser lights.

WHEN POLISH MANAGER Adam Nawałka named his Poland squad for their friendlies with Ireland and Slovakia, he included a mix of players from home and abroad.

While most fans in this part of the world will be familiar with the names of Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny, we thought we’d take a look at three relatively unheralded players who could cause Ireland’s new management team of Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane some difficulty in their first away game.

22-year old Teodorczyk made the move to Lech Poznan this season after impressing with 10 goals in 30 games during a three year spell with Polonia Warsaw.

His record in internationals is even more impressive with four goals in four games at underage level before netting three in three games for the senior squad.

After spending the formative part of his career in Poland, Sobota won a league title and Polish SuperCup with Slask Wroclaw last year before signing with Club Brugge this season.

However, while the 26-year old has failed to make an impact at club level so far, he has four international goals to his name in 11 appearances for the national team, including one on his debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

While the 22-year old midfielder is yet to make his debut for the senior team, he has three league goals in eight starts for Slask Wroclaw this season and has been something of a protégé of Nawałka since the age of 17.

Whether or not he gets his chance tonight though, remains to be seen.

Is this the greatest own goal of all time?
