Arteta: I never had a medical before joining Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has revealed that he completed his move from Everton to Arsenal without first undergoing a medical examination.

MIKEL ARTETA HAS revealed that he joined Arsenal without first undergoing a medical.

The Spaniard left Everton on transfer deadline day and claims that there was no time for him to have his fitness assessed, so he told the London club that he would assume all liability should an issue arise.

“It was very stressful. At 6pm, they said everything had broken down. Then, at 8.30pm, everything started again,” he told the Daily Mirror.

“But there wasn’t time to have a medical. I went to the offices of the club [Everton] and from there I told Arsenal to trust me and that if some medical problem was found it would be my responsibility.”

Arsenal, showing the same trust they have in Abou Diaby, Thomas Vermaelen, Kieran Gibbs and various other broken football players, agreed. Luckily for them, Arteta has started six out of seven Premier League games. Unluckily for them, he’s been quite average as the Gunners lie in 15th place in the table.
