ARSENAL DISMISSED NEWCASTLE United 3-0 at The Emirates thanks to goals from Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud.
The Gunners took the lead, early in the half, when Koscielny got on the end of a lofted free-kick to poke home.
The hosts doubled their lead after 41 minutes when Tim Krul twice denied Olivier Giroud, in the space of two seconds, before Ozil tucked home a simple rebound. The German was denied by a fine Krul save just before half-time but his manager, Arsene Wenger, will have been pleased with his team’s display.
Giroud eventually got on the scoreboard when he headed home after 65 minutes for his 15th goal of the season. Arsenal are now on 73 points, four clear of fifth place Everton and in line for a Champions League spot.
