Arsenal and Chelsea up in arms over Paddy Power's latest ad campaign

Andrei Arshavin and Fernando Torres have both been mocked by the bookmaking giants.

ARSENAL ARE CONSIDERING legal action against Paddy Power after the betting company placed an advertisement outside the Emirates Stadium mocking Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin.

The billboard contains a picture of a plunger on the company’s standard green background, with the text: ‘ANDREI. We’ve got somewhere you can put in a shift in… Block D toilets. What’s Russian for plunger?’

The giant image can be clearly seen from Arsenal’s flagship Armoury store.

Arshavin has been on the periphery of the Gunners’ first team this season, and is now the focus of Paddy Power’s ‘second jobs for substitutes’ campaign along with Fernando Torres of Chelsea.

Chelsea were angered last week when a poster slagging off Torres and his poor goalscoring record appeared just outside the club’s ground. It reads: ‘Fernando: We’ve got an onion bag you can actually find. It’s in the burger van mate. Get your hair net on.’

Aston Villa’s Darren Bent, QPR’s Jose Bosingwa and Peter Odemwingie of West Brom have also fallen prey to Paddy Power’s latest example of stunt advertising.
