TOULON’S DELON ARMITAGE has lodged an appeal against the 12-week ban handed down to him for abusive language used against Leicester Tigers supporters after a Champions Cup match last month.
Armitage was found guilty of misconduct after he abused fans at the end of the match at Welford Road.
The appeal will be heard in London on 8 January by an independent committee of three.
When the judgement was made on 21 December the comittee said they took Armitage’s previous record into account in deciding his sentence.

“We considered the player’s previous record and concluded that he is an habitual offender against the laws of the game, and one for whom there needs to be a deterrent to combat a clear pattern of offending, both on and off the field,” read the judgment.
Toulon’s next Champions Cup game is against Ulster on 16 January.
