AFTER MEDIATION TALKS between Galway players and their management team broke up without resolution in recent weeks, the hurling squad has voted against keeping Anthony Cunningham as manager next season.
And if the county board opt to retain Cunningham against the panel’s wishes — who has been in charge since 2012 — the vast majority of players also stated they would not hurl for the county in 2016.
According to Newstalk‘s Oisin Langan, 26 of the current panel voted no at a players’ meeting last night when asked ‘do you have confidence in the current management?’. Six voted yes.
When asked if they would hurl for the current management team, nine said yes with 23 of the panel saying they would not in a secret ballot.

The county board are due to meet again this evening and they may ask the clubs that reappointed Cunningham in September will be asked to reassess their decision.
