'Nan, I did it!' - Annalise Murphy got a hero's welcome as she arrived home this afternoon

FOR ANYONE WHO followed Annalise Murphy’s pursuit of Olympic glory in Rio, you’ll be acutely aware of the role her family have played along the way.

But there was one member of the Murphy clan who wasn’t on the water’s edge at Guanabara Bay last week for that indelible moment when Annalise came ashore having secure Olympic silver.

So there were unimaginably happy — and emotional — scenes in Dublin Airport earlier as Annalise’s grandmother, Betty Murphy, greeted her on arrival.
