8.6m people decided Angel Di Maria was one of the world's best midfielders in 2014

The Argentine international was one of three new inclusions in the annual UEFA.com team.

MAN UNITED’S ANGEL Di Maria was one of those picked in Uefa.com’s annual team of the year.

Di Maria, along with Diego Godín and Toni Kroos, appeared in the team for the first time.

The Champions League-winning Di Maria overcame competition from Luka Modric, Yaya Toure and Bastian Schweinsteiger among others to claim a place in midfield.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo featured for the eighth year running, while Messi was included for the sixth time.

More than 623,046 people voted for Ronaldo, with 8.6million people taking part in the vote overall.
