Andy Reid ruled out of Ireland's trip to Poland

The Nottingham Forest man picked up an injury at a training session this morning.

IRELAND COACHES MARTIN O’Neill and Roy Keane will have to prepare for Tuesday’s trip to Poland without Andy Reid.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has withdrawn from the squad and returned to his club having suffered a hamstring injury in training this morning, the FAI confirmed.

Reid made an impression off the bench in last night’s 3-0 win over Latvia, looking keen to get on the ball and starting the move that eventually led to Shane Long’s goal. However, he will be denied the chance to back that performance up due to this unfortunate injury.

There was no comment from the FAI on whether or not a replacement player would be called up. The Ireland team will train again tomorrow morning at 10am in preparation for what should be a tough test in Poland.
